Cosmetology, (Adult and High School Juniors and Seniors.)
This 17 month program (2000 hours) is designed by the WV Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists and prepares students to work as a cosmetologist. Students may study hair care (styling, cutting, shampooing, coloring, perming, scalp treatments, skin care, nail care, manicures, cuticle, treatments, holiday nails, artificial nails, pedicures), and salon management. The program prepares for the state licensing examination. A high school student must continue following High school graduation.
Training for both courses is a combination of classroom time and hands on training. Upon completion of either program, all students are required to be tested by the WV State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologist. This national test consists of a written test, as well as a practical exam. Carver Beauty Academy is the permanent testing site for the WV State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists.
