Dawn Mahon graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 1976, and Marshall University with a BA in Education in 1980. She taught English and Social Studies for many years, and completed Masters Degrees in both School Psychology and Administration through Marshall. She worked as a psychologist at HCA Riverpark in Huntington, and came back to the school system as an Assistant Director of Attendance and Social Services. She also served as an investigator for Kanawha County Schools, and has been an administrator at Dupont Middle, Capital High, and South Charleston High Schools. Ms. Mahon came to Carver as Assistant Principal in 2004.

I am happy to be a small part of the success Carver students find. The staff maintains high expectations for all students, and continues to grow and develop and keep abreast of changes in industry. We utilize our very active advisory committee as well as our CASE partner, Homebuilders of Greater Charleston, as an avenue for continuing growth and knowledge base. We take great pride in continually updating and improving our curriculum, equipment, facility, and technology."
