Barbering Program (Adult)
The course is 1200 hours and prepares students to work as Barbers. It is designed by the WV Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists. Students will study sanitation, West Virginia state law, clipper cutting techniques, beard trimming and also facial shaving. Students will also be taught the general knowledge and the history of barbering.
Barber Cross Over Program (Adult)
We are now offering a Barber Cross Over program for licensed Cosmetologists. The hours an individual student is required to take will depend on the cosmetology hours obtained. The cosmetology and barbering hours must be 2100 in total. The class will cover all aspects of Barbering including: clipper techniques, beard trimming and facial shaving. It will also include West Virginia state law as well as general knowledge and the history of barbering. A requirement for the Barber Cross over class is you must have a current West Virginia license.
To register for either course you must complete the application, present a copy of your social security card, a copy of a current WV drivers license or identification card, original high school diploma, current TB test (within the last six months) and two recent pictures of you.
Return all of this to the barbering department at Carver.
The 1200hr Barbering program starts in January and July of each year and ends in April of the following year.
Cosmetology Crossover 100 and 300 start/end dates vary throughout the school year. Contact your instructor for dates.
School breaks are factored in to this schedule.
